About Your Falconry Experience

Experience a day with Chris and his magnificent birds of prey in the beautiful Shropshire Hills. With there being only yourself booked for the day, the experience becomes very personal, with the knowledge and thrill that you gather being much more than in a group situation.

The Falconry Experience, described as “The best day of my life!” commences with watching interesting clips of Chris’s birds and some of his wildlife conservation work undertaken throughout the world. This is followed by an introduction to the birds, then personal handling and flying some of them, including such birds as the European Eagle Owl (the largest species of owl in the world), Indian Eagle Owl, British Barn Owl, Kestrel and Redtailed Hawk. You will then be invited to go on a short walk with an Indian Eagle Owl to the nearby brook where the scenery is second to none. Following this, on the return to the house, watch close up as Chris puts on a spectacular flying display with a falcon in the surrounding countryside.

James certainly looks as though he is enjoying his experience day

There is then a short break for snack lunch at a local cafe , which is included in the price.

After lunch we will visit Mahorall Farm which is set in 150 acres of ancient woodland and meadows. You may also get a chance to sample the cider that is made there!

The rest of the afternoon is spent out on a walk at Mahorall or the local countryside with either a couple of Harris Hawks or an American Redtailed Hawk where you will get plenty of opportunity to handle and fly the birds. On your walk you may well be lucky enough to see wild Peregrine Falcons, Buzzards, Kestrels, Sparrowhawks, Goshawks, Merlins, Hobbys and Red Kites – depending on the time of year.

You may also see many other smaller species of birds such as the Nuthatch, Stonechat, Wheatear, Woodpecker and, during April, you might be lucky enough to see the migrating Ring Ouzels –another good photograph opportunity! This is a very rare opportunity to see these amazing birds in their wild habitat, perform a wide range of behaviours. Finally the day finishes with afternoon tea, and reflections on the day!

The day commences at 10.30 and finishes at 4.30 (finish time depends on weather and time of year).

Price – £125 inclusive. Please note there is an observer fee of £25.00 per person, with a maximum of two observers.
